Advanced Energy United works to eliminate barriers and expand opportunities for advanced energy technologies to participate in competitive wholesale markets through engagement at FERC and priority RTOs/ISOs, including PJM, ISO New England, and ERCOT. This work includes reforming legacy FERC or ISO/RTO market rules and operating practices that restrict or limit the ability of advanced energy technologies to participate in the markets, pursuing new market designs that better accommodate and take advantage of the unique physical and operational characteristics of advanced energy technologies, opposing proposals that unfairly disadvantage advanced energy technologies and/or give undue preference to incumbent technologies, and improving requirements and processes for effective transmission buildout and interconnection of new resources. Advanced Energy United’s Expanding Wholesale Markets Working Group engages Advocate- and Leader-level members on priorities, strategies, and execution of wholesale markets advocacy.
