Shaping Tax & Investment Policy

The passage of H.R. 1 in 2025 and related federal rollbacks of the Inflation Reduction Act (2022) and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (2021) have reshaped our advanced energy economy, introducing new hurdles for businesses including limited tax credit eligibility, shifting market signals, and compressed timelines for qualifying projects and advanced energy deployment. Advanced Energy United’s Federal Priorities team serves as the focal point for our engagement with lawmakers on Capitol Hill and policymakers in the Administration. We work with industry leaders at the federal and state levels to continually build bipartisan support for smart tax credits, defend against efforts to repeal or undermine these policies, and advocate for measures to augment these gains.

How does this work help your business?

  1. Direct federal engagement

Working in coordination with United's state and regional teams, our members can set strategy for the advanced energy industry in D.C., engage with policymakers on the Hill, and participate in United’s ongoing work to preserve smart federal policy that maximizes market growth and consumer benefit.

  2. Market stability and predictability

Federal backing of advanced energy deployment sends strong market signals to private investors and businesses looking to scale up. Through our policy advocacy work, we help establish clear policy frameworks that give manufacturers, distributors, and contractors the certainty to invest and grow their operations.

  3. Market competition

By reducing legacy barriers, securing incentives, and creating equitable market conditions, our member companies can compete fairly against traditional energy resources and other clean energy businesses, driving continued growth through innovation and deployment.
