ACCELERATING THE ENERGY TRANSITION
In 2022, Rhode Island adopted one of the nation's most aggressive climate and clean energy laws, requiring 100% of the state's electricity use to be offset by renewable energy by 2033. This built on the state's 2021 Act on Climate, which requires the state to achieve net-zero emissions economy-wide by 2050. Rhode Island is also home to the first offshore wind farm in the U.S. Together, these policies and clean energy development success stories have positioned Rhode Island as a state that punches well above its weight in advancing clean energy. Now Advanced Energy United is working with policymakers and industry leaders to ensure Rhode Island continues to play a lead role in the deployment of clean energy, especially offshore wind, and the effective and efficient connection of that clean energy to the grid.
