MANUFACTURING AMERICA’S CLEAN ENERGY REVOLUTION
Michigan’s economy stands to reap the benefits of the transition to clean energy and electrifying transportation. Jobs in advanced energy technologies and training programs created for auto workers cannot be outsourced. Harnessing the movement towards large-scale manufacturing of electric vehicles or clean energy facilities will ensure the economic boon stays in Michigan for future generations. This is why more work needs to be done in Michigan to continue this momentum and make its energy secure, reliable, and clean.
The current administration created the MI Healthy Climate Plan to bring clean energy and transportation to everyone in Michigan. Governor Whitmer set a bold target for the state to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 28% by 2025, with a goal of being economy-wide carbon neutral by 2050. Additionally, the plan sets a course to build the infrastructure necessary to support 2 million electric vehicles on Michigan roads by 2030. Michigan needs to keep investing in these programs, such as expanding manufacturing and economic development under the Strategic Outreach and Attraction Reserve. Michigan can leverage as many federal dollars as possible in the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Acts to realize these goals.
We can encourage Michigan to move towards 100% clean energy and electric transportation by working together!
