Focus Areas

Electrifying Transportation

While federal policy around electric vehicles (EVs) and infrastructure deployment has shifted dramatically, states continue to lead the transition to an electrified transportation future. Advanced Energy United and its transportation-focused members support state legislators, regulators, and executive branch offices as they work to accelerate EV adoption and expand charging infrastructure as part of a broader energy system transformation. Our policy team works to advance policies that lower electric vehicle costs, speed charging deployment, modernize the grid to integrate EVs and VPPs, and support fleet electrification, including medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.

How does this work help your business?

  1. Faster market growth and sales opportunities

By securing policies that reduce EV costs, fund charging deployment, and enable EVs to be aggregated and reduce peak demand, businesses see increased customer demand, faster adoption of their products and services, and more opportunities to scale in both consumer and fleet markets.

  2. Lower costs and reduced risks

Through engagement in utility and regulatory proceedings, we help create rate designs and grid upgrades that cut operating costs for EV charging and fleet electrification projects. Clear, consistent rules reduce investment risk, giving companies more confidence to expand.

  3. Actionable market insights and influence

Members gain real-time insights into state and federal developments that affect their bottom line—plus a direct hand in shaping the rules of the game. This ensures companies aren’t just reacting to policy changes but driving them in ways that open revenue streams and remove barriers to growth.

Project Spotlight

Charged

The CHARGED Initiative, established by Advanced Energy United in collaboration with GridLab and RMI, identifies tools and methods that utilities across the United States can adopt to enable electrification in ways that maximize infrastructure upgrades and maintain system reliability. The initiative is a critical step in ensuring that utility planning evolves to support advanced energy business growth, accelerate customer adoption of advanced energy technologies, and deliver the most cost-effective outcomes for ratepayers.
