WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Reps. Scott Peters (D-CA), Gabe Evans (R-CO), Gabe Vasquez (D-NM), Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), Adam Gray (D-CA), Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ), Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), and Jen Kiggans (R-VA) formally introduced the CERTAIN (Creating Expeditious Reviews to Transform American Infrastructure Now) Act, a bipartisan bill which aims to streamline federal energy permitting processes that are currently preventing many energy projects from being built efficiently and on time.
Advanced Energy United is endorsing the CERTAIN Act, which would implement clear deadlines for federal agency review processes, better safeguard already-issued permits, require agencies to respond to workforce and technical needs, and strengthen communication and accountability opportunities.
Dylan Reed, Managing Director at Advanced Energy United, issued the following statement:
“Advanced Energy United is proud to endorse the bipartisan CERTAIN Act. We commend the efforts of Representatives Peters and Evans in crafting a thoughtful, comprehensive proposal that emphasizes fairness and accountability in the broken federal permitting process. Across administrations, energy projects have been stymied by opaque, politicized, and seemingly endless bureaucratic processes holding them in limbo. Advanced energy is easily deployable, affordable, and ready to meet this moment of unprecedented growth in energy demand – yet unnecessary red tape is holding these projects back. As negotiations on a broader permitting package continue, we strongly encourage lawmakers to incorporate the key tenets of the CERTAIN Act. America cannot achieve energy dominance without a holistic, technology-neutral solution to the permitting instability plaguing the industry.”
