Historically, reliability for a utility was a straightforward concept that was centered on keeping the lights on, with success measured by how long and how often customers experienced power outages. Today, grid resiliency is a key component of a far more complex definition of reliability.

The DTECH Reliability & Resiliency Conference will help electric utilities and their partners to address these issues by exploring how to build a more secure, dependable, and adaptable grid. Through utility-led case studies, closed-door roundtables, and interactive workshops, this three-day event addresses real-world challenges—from wildfire and hurricane preparedness to distributed energy resource (DER) integration, storm restoration, and cyber defense.

On the final day of the event, United’s Emma Heins will moderate the “From Pilots to Performance: Scaling DERs for Reliability and Resilience” panel, which will explore what it takes to scale virtual power plants (VPPs) and other DER programs, highlighting practical lessons from states and utilities that are moving from pilots to implementation, with a focus on how DERs can help improve reliability, reduce peak demand, support resilience during emergencies, and lower costs for customers.
